Komi-san will begin his last arc this month

A leak by Japanese leaker Ryokutya reported that the manga written and illustrated by Tomohito Oda, "Komi-san wa, Komyushou Desu (Komi Can't Communicate)", will enter its latest story arc in the July 31 editorial of Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine. The information will be officially confirmed when the next chapter is published.

According to the leak, this latest arc will be titled "Boot Camp Arc," though the translation of the Japanese term "合宿 (Gasshuku)," would rather refer to the practice of taking a special course or staying in a place to study (in this case, probably for college entrance exams).

Komi-san

Tomohito Oda began publishing the manga in May 2016 through Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine. An anime adaptation by OLM studios adds up to a total of twenty-four episodes to date, with two seasons released in Fall-2021 (October-December) and Spring-2022 (April-June).

Contrary to popular belief, this manga has never been classified by its publisher as a romantic comedy, but as a school comedy. The romance between Shouko Komi and Tadano Hitohito is not really the main theme of the play, but Komi's own overcoming in his search for a hundred friends.

Synopsis of Komi-san wa, Komyushou desu

It's Shouko Komi's first day at the prestigious Itan Private Institute, and she's already become the school's Madonna. With her long black hair and tall, elegant look, she captures the attention of anyone who crosses her. However, there is a problem: despite her popularity, Shouko is terrible at communicating with others. Hitohito Tadano is your typical high school kid. With his life motto of "read the situation and make sure you stay out of trouble," he quickly discovers that sitting next to Shouko has made him everyone's enemy in his class.

One day, passed out by accident, Hitohito wakes up to the sound of Shouko's "meow." He lies by saying that he hasn't heard anything, causing Shouko to run away. But before she can escape, Hitohito assumes that Shouko is not able to talk to others easily; in fact, he has never been able to make a single friend. Hitohito decides to help Shouko in her goal of making a hundred friends so that she can overcome her communication disorder.
