Love could triumph in Boku no Hero Academia

As we previously reported, the "Boku no Hero Academia" manga is in its final stretch, just a few chapters away from reaching its conclusion. Despite the fact that the war is over and the heroes have emerged victorious, fans were really excited about the most recent chapter (or rather, the leaks of it), as it seems that there will be the romantic development that they have been waiting for so long for more than a decade.

And no, we're not talking about the "BakuDeku" or the "KiriDeku" or all those homosexual ships that came along when the fujoshi discovered this franchise. We are referring specifically to the relationship between Ochako Uraraka and Izuku Midoriya, the protagonist. Certainly author Kohei Horikoshi has not stood out to date in properly writing a romance, but the closure of the chapter has rekindled the hopes of the fan community.

As heroes and would-be heroes work together to rebuild the city after the recent war, Ochako seems to be keeping a fake smile. It turns out that she is still feeling devastated by the death of Himiko Toga, the villain. In case you don't remember anymore, Himiko Toga died during the battle saving Ochako herself by transferring all her blood to her. The scene left Ochako traumatized, who was immobilized and could not prevent her new friend from dying next to her with a smile.

Although Ochako has every desire for the world to be happy, she can't help but feel sad about Toga's death. For the same reason, he disappears one night worrying his colleagues. While Ochako cries alone on a hill, the one who appears behind her is Deku shouting her name and closing the chapter. We can see some flashes on Deku's panel, meaning he used what's left of the One For All to get there (which eliminates the possibility that he arrived as a group, i.e. it's definitely just the two of them).

Will romance be the ultimate ingredient for "Boku no Hero Academia" to end on a good note for fans who followed the story for more than ten years? There's no doubt that it would be an interesting addition and would put the franchise on top of the trends shortly before its end, but will Kohei Horikoshi really do it? Fans are already debating about it:

  • «#BakuDeku is finally dead. Thank goodness. I've been praying for this day for a long time."
  • «It's not officially dead yet, we still have to wait until next week. By the way, I'm pro IzuOcha (ship between Izuku and Ochako)."
  • «Man, I really wish Horikoshi cared more about developing IzuOcha's romantic relationship (shippeo between Izuku and Ochako), then maybe he'd be excited to see what happens with them."
  • «You know that the fact that the IzuOcha becomes canon does not mean the death of the BakuDeku (shipping between Bakugo and Izuku), right? It may surpass it in being canon, but people will still ship BakuDeku, and if you think they won't, you're very naïve."
  • «Did people really believe it was going to happen? Bahahaha lmao."
  • «I just want to point out how sad it is that we're proving the weird side of Boku no Hero Academia that the protagonist isn't gay. We love MHA, but they want to make him gay for no reason."
  • «So you can't comfort a friend? Does it have to be love to comfort someone?"
  • «LMAO maybe instead of focusing on seeing Uraraka only as a love interest, they should look at her character, her pain, and her growth, rather than just seeing her as someone Deku should date."
  • «At this point, it's not just a lack of reading skills... It is really a worrying emotional deficiency. Guys, it's sociopathy to think of 'the Izu Ocha canon' when Ochako is devastated by Toga and obviously Izuku just wants to talk because he can understand her thanks to Tenko."
  • «Why does everyone assume that they are going to confession?"
  • «The manga is about to end and you still don't understand that Ochako is going beyond Izuku and is finally demonstrating her character development enough for you to reduce her to mediocre shipping."
  • «I don't hate IzuOcha (ship between Izuku and Ochako) or anything (seriously, I don't hate), but she's suffering and all they care about is that she and Izuku get into a relationship. Izuku would want her to be well mentally, emotionally, and physically before he even tries to start a relationship with her."
