Silent Witch confirms its premiere in July with new features

The long-awaited adaptation of the literary phenomenon will debut on July 4 and will feature Hina Suguta, Shunichi Toki and the band hitsujibungaku.

During a livestream last Saturday, Aniplex shared exciting news about the anime adaptation of the Silent Witch light novel series, written by Matsuri Isora and illustrated by Nanna Fujimi. The project’s second promotional video confirmed the premiere date, introduced new cast members, and revealed the artists in charge of the main tracks.

Hina Suguta and Shunichi Toki join the cast

Among the new talents announced is Hina Suguta, who will play Casey Groves, a second-year student at the wizarding academy where the story takes place. For his part, Shunichi Toki will voice a mysterious male character whose identity has not yet been revealed.

Hitsujibungaku will perform both musical themes

The renowned Japanese alternative rock band hitsujibungaku will be in charge of the anime’s two main themes. Although the opening does not yet have an official title, the ending will be titled “mild days” and can be heard in the new trailer.

Premiere confirmed for July in Japan

Silent Witch will make its television debut on July 4, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. (local Japanese time), which corresponds to July 5 at 5:00 p.m. (Spanish time). It will air on Tokyo MX, Tochigi TV, Gunma TV, and BS11, in addition to YTV and TV Aichi.

Production by veteran talents

Takaomi Kanasaki, known for his work on KonoSuba, will serve as the chief director, screenwriter, and sound supervisor. The main direction is in the hands of Yasuo Iwamoto, while Studio Gokumi leads the animation. Among the visual managers are Cona Nitanda (character design), Yoshinori Iwanaga (monster and object design), and Saori Yoshida (color direction).

A magical story with a touch of social comedy

The story follows Monica Everett, known as the “Silent Witch,” the only wizard in the world capable of using voiceless magic. Despite her fame as a heroine, Monica actually developed that technique because she is extremely shy. Unaware of this, the Seven Sages assign her to a secret mission: to protect the Second Prince in an elite academy. Can a girl who hates public speaking survive between real intrigues and social contacts?

Novels, manga, and an expanding franchise

Silent Witch was born in 2020 on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō platform, and its physical release began in 2021 under the KADOKAWA label. To date, it has nine volumes and a tenth on the way for the summer. There is also a prequel series titled Silent Witch -another- and two manga adaptations currently in publication. Yen Press is officially licensed in English under the title Secrets of the Silent Witch.
