Mashiro shines in the trailer for Detectives These Days Are Crazy!

he anime features Mashiro, the peculiar assistant of an old-fashioned detective, in a trailer that combines comedy, mystery, and a lot of charisma.

This Friday, May 3, the production company KADOKAWA released a new character trailer for the anime Detectives These Days Are Crazy! (Mattaku Saikin no Tantei Tokitara), focused on Mashiro, an energetic high school girl who arrives to shake up the routine of former detective Keiichirō Nagumo.

Who is Mashiro?

In the video, the peculiar dynamic between Mashiro, played by Kana Hanazawa, and Nagumo, who is in charge of veteran Junichi Suwabe, is highlighted. She bursts into his life determined to become his assistant, no matter how old-fashioned or disconnected from the world her new boss is. With her youthful energy, the young woman is ready to solve mysteries that only such an uneven couple could face.

Star-studded cast and quirky characters

In addition to the protagonists, the cast includes:

All set for the premiere in July

The anime, which will premiere in July 2024 in Japan, is being produced by LIDEN FILMS under the direction of Rion Kujo (Love Doll). The script is in charge of Rintarō Ikeda (Insomniacs After School), and the character design is signed by Isoroku Koga (Call of the Night), who also serves as chief animation director.

The music will be composed by Tomoki Kikuya and the opening theme “Suffer” will be performed by Taiiku Okazaki, known for his unique and humorous style.

A manga with history and a lot of humor

The original story was created by Masakuni Igarashi (Senryū Girl) and has been published since April 2016 in Kadokawa’s Dengeki Maoh magazine. It currently has 15 collected volumesOne Peace Books will publish the first volume in English on April 28.

The plot revolves around Keiichirō Nagumo, a legendary detective who more than a decade ago solved the most impossible cases, but today barely understands how a smartphone works. His quiet life changes when Mashiro, a girl full of energy, shows up to be his apprentice. Together, this atypical duo promises moments as funny as they are mysterious.

Detectives These Days Are Crazy! It is a fresh proposal that mixes absurd comedy, unexpected dynamics and light mystery, ideal for those looking for something different in the summer season.
