Moon River or Watatte comes to an end with an unexpected twist

Norihiko Kurazono’s dystopian story concludes after a year of publication and announces its final volume for this summer.

The manga Moon River or Watatte, the work of author Norihiko Kurazono, officially concluded on March 16, 2025. This dystopian sci-fi series has been published on Shogakukan’s Manga ONE app since its debut in May 2024.

The story follows Manatsu, a high school student whose life changes radically after taking a simple photograph. In it appears something that society has decided to hide at all costs. What began as an innocent action transforms into a conflict that leads her to discover the outside world, revealing truths that defy everything she knew.

Final volume already has a release date

The manga’s third and final compilation volume will be released in Japan on June 18, 2025. This will officially close this intense story that, despite its short duration, managed to capture the attention of readers for its intriguing premise and oppressive atmosphere.

Kurazono continues to consolidate his career as an author

Norihiko Kurazono is also known for his work Jiangshi X (Kyonshī X), which was published on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump Plus platform between January 2023 and February 2024. The story, which originated as a one-shot in December 2021, was collected in four volumes and had official distribution in English through Viz Media and MANGA Plus.
